We have an environmental committment

green data center

Granite Block Global Data Center Inc gets its name from the building that houses the facility. The Company is committed to the environment, which is why we have plans to install two wind turbines, add geo-thermal cooling, and roof topped solar panels. The commitment also extends to the building that we occupy. Rather than build a new facility, the Company decided to reuse an existing structure. That decision is in line with our commitment to the environment, and it results in a superior data center. The building is constructed using granite block for the walls giving it great strength, so we included it in our name. This is not just a granite block facade on a building; these are walls constructed of FOUR FEET OF SOLID GRANITE BLOCK, VIRTUALLY IMPENETRABLE.

The floors are made from old growth southern yellow pine and supported to carry heavy loads. The building was built in 1892 as a woolen mill, so the floors are designed to carry the load of the heavy weaving machines and associated equipment. We are adding modern touches. The ceilings have been sand blasted and painted with fire proof paint and the floors will be covered with three inches of concrete. With the new coatings and the pre-action sprinkler system the space will be virtually fire proof.

When completed, the data center will contain approximately 115,000 sq. ft. of colocation space. Present design is for the colocation space to have a three foot raised floor and a three foot dropped ceiling. The actual customer space will have approximately eleven (11) feet of ceiling height. The Company is committed to providing the best environment for our client's equipment which is why we are providing three foot raised floors. This ensures that all your equipment in each rack will receive the proper air flow, no hot spots. The four feet of granite block walls will keep out the heat in summer and the cold in winter making the space cost effective in maintaining the proper interior temperature and humidity for your equipment.
