Granite Block Global Data Center in Fall River, Massachusetts has plans on the drawing board to add geothermal cooling systems to supplement traditional systems that are already in place.
Geothermal energy is extracted from a reasonably constant earth core temperature of 54 degrees to 56 degrees F. Running a thermal loop to this constant core temperature by drilling wells vertically allows for this heat to be transferred. All that is required is to pass warm air over cooled pipes in a heat exchanger.
